The #3 seed Eagles enter the game after winning their home quarterfinal matchup with #6 seed Maine. Hockey East goal leader, Julia Pellerin (20) scored twice in the game including the game winner. The Terriers welcome the Providence College Friars to their Senior Night to close out their three game set. The teams split the previous pair of games, in BU’s post-Beanpot series, with each team taking their home game. The weekend included freshman goalie Mikail Yegorov’s first career shutout.
Since they last met, the Friars have won 3 in a row, including a sweep of Merrimack over the weekend (3-2, 2-1). On Friday night, PC got into a 2 goal hole, before scoring three unanswered, including goals from team leading goalscorers Graham Gamache (10) and Tanner Adams (11). On Saturday, again the Friars got in a hole, giving up a goal to Merrimack in the first before scoring two in the second, including a buzzer beater by Tomas Machu—his second goal of the season—which was the eventual game winner.
In that same span, the Terriers went 1-1-1, which included a split with Northeastern (1-5, 3-1) and a shootout win over UConn last Tuesday. Terrier freshman defenseman Cole Hutson scored 2 goals and recorded 2 assists in the three game span. The goals were the game winning goal against Northeastern and the game tieing goal against UConn. No other Terrier has more than one goal in that span, and Quinn Hutson (3) and Tom Willander (2) are the only others with more than a point in that span.
